Advisory Guide for IP address configuration |

IP Address Configuration Requirements |

Check List :
Prior to
the commencement of the IP assignment configuration, please
check the following
i. Network card is installed.
ii. TCP/ IP has been set-up.
iii. Network cable is firmly connected to the network card of
your computer. |

Note:

For the details of points i and ii, please continue with section
1.2, Method of Checking.
- Please refer to section 2, to begin the configuration process. |

Method of Checking :

Click "start"
button
"setting"
"control panel". ( "Control
Panel" window will appear )

Double
click: "Network" icon. ( Network"
window will appear )

At the
"Configuration" tab, find "TCP/IP -> "YOUR
NETWORK CARD".
In the example
below, we found "TCP/IP -> FE574B-Com 10/100 LAN PC
Card-Fast Ethernet." This demonstrates that TCP/IP is installed.
The network card is FE574B-Com 10/100 LAN PC Card-Fast Ethernet.
If the network card cannot be found or the TCP/IP is not installed,
please refer to your Network Administrator for installation.

Method of Configuration : |

IP address
will be assigned dynamically during this configuration.
2.1Click
"start" button
"setting"
"control panel". ( "Control
Panel" window will appear )

Double
click: "Network" icon. ( "Network"
window will appear )

At the "Configuration"
Tab:
i. Choose "TCP/ IP -> Your Network Card".
ii. Press "Properties".

At the "TCP/
IP Properties" window:
i. Select the "IP Address" Tab.
ii. Choose the field of "Obtain an IP address automatically".
iii. Press "OK". (The "Network"
window will reappear)

At the
"Network" window. Click "OK".

"Restart"
your computer.

POP3 Outlook Express 5 - User Setup Guide |

1.
Open "Outlook Express".
2.
Select "Tools" from pull-down menu, click "Accounts".

3.Select
"Mail" tab and click "Add".

4.
Fill in "User Name" (e.g. User_ID) , then click "Next".
5.Fill
in "Email Address" (e.g. User_ID@hgcbroadband.com ).
6.
Fill in "Incoming Mail Server" with " pop.hgcbroadband.com"
and "Outgoing Mail Server" with "mail02.hgcbroadband.com".

7.
Fill in "Account name" (e.g. User_ID@hgcbroadband.com)
and "Password" , then click "Next".

8.Click
"Finish".

9.
After all, double click "pop.hgcbroadband.com".

10.
Select "Server" tab and click "My server requires authentication".

11. Select
"Settings......"tab and "Log on using" tab, then type Account
name and Password

Open Netscape Mail

Select "Edit"from the pull-down menu, then click "Mail and Newsgroups
Account Settings".

Click"Add Account"

Click"Next"

Fill in "Your Name"(e.g. User_ID) and"Email Address"(e.g.
User_ID@hgcbroadband.com).

Fill in "Incoming Server" with "pop.hgcbroadband.com"and
"Outgoing Server"with "mail02.hgcbroadband.com", then
click"Next"

7.
Fill in"User Name"(e.g. User_ID@hgcbroadband.com), then
click "Next". Fill in"Account Name" also (e.g. User_ID@hgcbroadband.com).
8.Check
all information is correct or not and click "Finish".

9.At
last, click"Use username and password"and fill in "User Name"
(e.g. User_ID@hgcbroadband.com).

Outlook
Express - Setup Guide |

Start "Outlook Express".

In Outlook Express, click Accounts on the Tools
menu.

In the Internet Accounts dialog box, click Add,
and then click News.

4.
In the Display Name box, type the name you want other
people to see when you post a message, and then click Next.

5.
In the E-mail Address box, type the e-mail address for
the account you are using (for example, apple1234@hutchcity.com),
and then click Next.

6.
In the News (NNTP) Server box, type "news.hgcbroadband.com".
Then click Next. NOTE: This information is provided by
your Internet service provider (ISP). If you do not know this
information, contact your ISP.

7. In
Outlook Express, click Next in the Congratulations screen,
and then click Finished. You can now set your default
newsgroup, or click Close.
